GROUNDWATER SUSTAINABILITY AGENCY (GSA)

WHAT IS A GSA?

The Shandon-San Juan Water District has formed a Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA), the Shandon-San Juan GSA.  GSAs are tasked with assessing conditions in their local basins and adopting local management plans or “Groundwater Sustainability Plans” (GSPs).  Each high and medium priority groundwater basin must be managed in its entirety by one or more GSAs in a coordinated manner.  For more information, download the fact sheets.

GSA PARTNERS

The Shandon-San Juan GSA worked collaboratively with other local area GSA's to form the Paso Basin Cooperative Committee.  The purpose of the Cooperative Committee is to to develop one single Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) for the entire Basin that will be considered for adoption by each individual GSA and subsequently submitted to the Department of Water Resources for approval by January 31, 2020.  The Paso Basin Cooperative Committee is comprised of the following GSA's.

  • City of El Paso de Robles

  • County of San Luis Obispo

  • Heritage Ranch Community Services District

  • San Miguel Community Services District

  • Shandon-San Juan Water District
